Five Great Road Songs

A great road-trip deserve a great soundtrack. Then again, so does a trip to the grocery store.

Here at Elite Collision Center, we surveyed our employees and came up with five great road songs to keep your wheels rolling!

1. “Sister Christian” by Night Ranger – Motoring! This 1984 hit by Night Ranger just makes you want to drive through the night. Unfortunately, your “price for flight” may be subject to the whims of the crude oil market.
2. “Runnin’ Down a Dream” by Tom Petty – Released by the late rocker in 1989, the opening riff to this song just sounds like road-tripping. The lyrics paint a picture of driving care-free with the top down, radio blasting, and even feature a tip of the hat to the Del Shannon’s classic “Runaway.”
3. “Low Rider” by War – The smooth bass line and baritone vocal of “Low Rider” are enough to make the rustiest jalopy seem cool for three minutes. Great for cruising up and down Main Street USA.
4. “Ramblin’ Man” by The Allman Brothers – Like the song’s protagonist, the musical trajectory of this Southern Rock anthem moves seamlessly from place to place. A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, “Ramblin’ Man” is the perfect song for the open road.
5. “Little Deuce Coupe” by The Beach Boys – The California surf rockers’ ode to hot rodding—specifically in the late Ford Model B—features great harmonies and a driving beat that make you want to put the pedal to the floor. But please, whatever you do, don’t “do a hundred and forty with the top end floored.” That’s illegal.
