Volvo Jumps Into EV/Hybrid Market with Both Feet

Automaker Volvo is showing some class and giving major love to the planet by saying "no more gas" by telling the world that they will soon be completely out of the gasoline game, at least partially. It's a huge deal, because it says volumes about how this company is 100% in it to win it when it comes to helping the environment.

At Western Auto Crafters, we realize that cars are changing every day as new technology enhances this ever-changing industry here in Los Angeles, CA and all over the world. So sharing this exciting news with you in our blog is a big deal!

Volvo reported that all of its vehicles launched starting in 2019 will be either electric or hybrids and nothing more. The timely decision makes Volvo, which is now owned by the Chinese company Geely, the very first major carmaker to discontinue the production of its gas-only vehicles.

The company plans to release three all-new new all-electric cars by the year 2021. Already in development, Volvo is getting a lot of very positive exposure about the move from environmentalists all over the world. It marks a definitive step in the right direction for the manufacturer as we enter the age of EVs, hybrids and self-drivers.

“This recent announcement marks the demise of the solely combustion engine-powered vehicle,” Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson stated in a press release by the company. “Volvo has stated in the past that it plans to have sold a total of one million electrified cars by 2025 and we are dedicated to making that happen. When we said it, we meant it and we mean it now, because we want to be ahead of the curve instead of behind it."

Hybrid and electric vehicles are now just a fraction of new-car sales in the world right now, but there is a fair amount of evidence out there currently that premium-market models are building enough momentum for many top experts to say that mass-market adoption will follow rapidly as the technology develops and prices begin to plummet over time.

Now that Volvo has set the standard, will other big carmakers join the fray? Only time will tell, of course, but by looking for more solutions that don't use gasoline, we can all hopefully have a healthier Planet Earth for all of us to enjoy!
