Driving in the Sun Can Be a Glaring Problem

Driving on a nice sunny day and cruising around to see some scenery is always a delight, but it can also create a hazard when a driver's sightlines are affected in any way by glaring sunlight.

At Hamblin's Body Paint & Frame, we have heard about car accidents that have been caused by weather and other conditions and sun is one of these. During a sunny day in Riverside, CA driving can be difficult, especially if you don't have sunglasses or if you're driving directly into the sun.

It can happen before you realize it. You're coming around a bend and suddenly, you're traveling from shade to bright sunlight. The sun is blinding you and you're still trying to drive your car safely. • Don't tailgate. Tailgating is always a bad idea but it's even worse when people are driving into the sun. With the sun in your eyes, it can be difficult to see what the car ahead of you is doing, so give them ample space.
• Drive with your headlights on, so that other drivers and pedestrians can see you. (That's right, drive with your lights on during the day.)
• Always keep your windshield clean, inside and out.
• Check your windshield for cracks and/or pitting.
