Bottom 5 List of the World's Worst Polluting Cars

Vehicles produce several types of pollutants, including particulates, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, hazardous air pollutants and greenhouse gases. And they produce pollution throughout their life, starting during manufacture and continuing through operation, refueling, disposal and fuel refining and distribution. There’s the stuff that goes directly into the air – primary pollution and secondary pollution – from chemical reactions between pollutants in the atmosphere.

To really get a clear picture of a smoky situation, here are two lists from different reputable sources. Here at Bells & Vaughn Collision Center, we all want a cleaner planet and that's why we're always thinking beyond Pasadena, CA and to the rest of the world.

Goliath.com’s bottom five worst offenders are:

Subaru WRX STI

5.) Subaru WRX STI: This rally car performs well in all-terrain races around the world. With a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four engine producing 300 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, it may get you to the finish line first, but it does so at just 17 miles per gallon while emitting 1.01 pounds of carbon dioxide per mile.

 Dodge Viper ACR

4.) Dodge Viper ACR: Looks like something out of a car chase film, with a 645 horsepower V10 engine and six-speed manual transmission, its power comes at an environmental price. It only gets 21 mpg highway and emits 1.3 pounds of carbon dioxide for every mile driven.

 Aston Martin Vanquish

3.) Aston Martin Vanquish: It looks like something out of James Bond; a high-end sports car with all the bells and whistles, that gets 21 mpg highway and spews 1.28 pounds of carbon dioxide per mile.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

2.) Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: A classic American muscle car, its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, producing a 640 horsepower and 640 pounds of torque, contributes to its clocking only 18 mpg, highway and 12 mpg city, while coughing up 1.37 pounds of carbon dioxide per mile.

Lamborghini Aventador SV

1.) Lamborghini Aventador SV: The top polluter is a gorgeous machine with all-wheel drive standard, a V12 engine, producing 740 horsepower and burning a gallon of gas every 18 miles of highway, it makes just 11 mpg in the city. The car emits 1.46 pounds of carbon dioxide per mile, making it the worst automotive polluter today.
