Genesis Cars to Be Controlled Via Google Assist
As drivers become more familiar with the increasing amount of technology being added to vehicles, recently-released apps are transforming how people interact with their cars on a daily basis. Those who own or are considering purchasing a Genesis, Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand, are now able to speak or text commands to control certain aspects of their automobile.
At Mac Haik Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, we love new car technology and connected cars, so we're delighted to share this blog with you.
Let’s say your car is parked outside here in Houston, TX and you want to start it up and turn on the heater before climbing inside, or want to double check to find out if it is locked or not. Maybe you want to send a destination to your car’s navigation system or decide to hit the horn and turn on the lights. All it takes is downloading the Google Assistant app and connecting it with a Genesis Connected Services account.
This is all part of Genesis Connected Services offered by the company. All Genesis vehicles include three years of complimentary access to this package.
A few months ago, Hyundai connected its Blue Link connectivity service to Google Assistant, which enables this connectivity.
Once set up, drivers can send remote commands three different ways after entering a personal identification number:
- Send a voice command using Google Assistant on Google Home
- Send a voice command using Google Assistant on an eligible Android or iPhone
- Send a text command using the Google Assistant on a smartphone
It’s as easy as speaking to your Google Home device and saying, “Google, tell Genesis to start my car and set the temperature to 70 degrees.”
Developed by Google, Google Home is a hands-free “smart” speaker that allows users to speak voice commands and interact through the Google Assistant. In addition to streaming music, you can manage everyday tasks and ask it questions. With the Genesis Assistant app, drivers can now communicate with their vehicles. Currently, the technology includes Remote Start with Climate Control, Destination Search powered by Google®, Remote Door Lock/Unlock and Stolen Vehicle Recovery.
In addition to the app, Genesis introduced an “augmented reality” owner’s manual called The Genesis Virtual Guide. Drivers who own a 2017 G80 or G90 can scan their smartphones over the trunk, exterior, interior buttons or engine and learn about that part of the vehicle.
As connected car features continue to be launched by Genesis and other car brands, drivers will not only learn about their vehicles but also have more control over the various components.
