Hawaii has some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the world with sugary beaches, secret waterfalls and an abundance of hiking trails. A wonderful way to experience its beauty is a scenic drive. Rent a convertible, put your sunglasses on and get ready to take a road trip to paradise.

So, here is our list of the Top 5 Hawaiian Road Trips--offered by all of us at  Pacific Elite Collision Centers Ontario :

1.) The Road to Hana

It’s only 20 miles long but Maui’s famous road curves, bends and twists. Stop along the way to enjoy beautiful waterfalls, such as Twin Falls, banana bread, fruit stands and incredible scenery. It takes about two hours each way, and you’ll want to spend the day exploring the town of Hana, Seven Sacred Pool and Pipiwai Trail through the bamboo forests.

2.) Haleakala Highway

Follow this famous windy road in Maui and you’ll end up at the volcano summit at an elevation of 10,023 feet. Many tourists travel here in the morning to see the sunrise. There are also biking tours. Watch for cows and geese on the road and remember to bring warm clothes for the summit since the temperature will be much cooler than sea level!

3.) Kauai’s North Shore

One of the best road trips on the Garden Isle is Kauai’s North Shore. You’ll see rugged mountains, lush taro fields and incredible beaches and sea cliffs. Some of the sites include a wildlife sanctuary, whale watching, Lumahai Beach where South Pacific was filmed and the resort town of Princeville. One of the highlights is Napali Coast, a 17-mile stretch of coastline with waterfalls, green valleys and sea caves.

4.) Oahu Diamond Head to Makapuʻu Point

Close to Waikiki on Oahu’s southeastern shore, you’ll find oceanfront mansions owned by movie stars and millionaires. Along this spectacular drive, you can stop at the famous Diamond Head State Monument and explore the nature preserve and underwater marine park at Hanauma Bay. If time allows, walk Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail; you might see humpback whales offshore during the wintertime.

5.) From Kona to Hilo

Where else can you view lava desert, soaring mountains, jungles and beaches? A great way to see Hawaii’s Big Island is by car and no trip is complete without visiting the active volcano, Kilauea. Since it’s located on the Hilo side of the island and the resorts are on the Kona side, it’s a long but memorable one-day road trip. Along the way, there is Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, Rainbow Falls and local eateries.
