I was visiting Oklahoma City from out of town and had a mishap in a borrowed car belonging to a family member. Without any experience with them I went to Eddie Peck’s Body Shop and met Frank, the owner. I explained my situation and Frank said he would take care of me. It was mid-afternoon the week of Christmas.
The short story is that Frank ordered the part I needed and pulled one of his excellent employees (I wish I could remember his name) and went to work immediately. My borrowed (nearly new) car was repaired by noon the next day. Frank told me when I picked the car up that he only needed a portion of the multi-component part he ordered for the car and that he was going to send the other back. He also did not charge me for labor. He only let me pay for the part he installed. His explanation was that because I was from out of town and was in a borrowed car he wanted to treat me well. His exact words were, “You’re trying to do the right thing, so let me do the right thing by you.”
He could have charged me for both parts he ordered; I would not have known better. He could have charged me an elevated labor cost; I was stuck and mostly at his mercy. He should have charged me something for labor, but he refused.
In all, Frank had every opportunity to take advantage of me, but in the end, actually made no money at all by my coming in.
Anyone in the Oklahoma City area looking for an HONEST auto-body shop need look no further than Eddie Pecks. I would be willing to drive back from Georgia just to give them my business.
Frank, I wish I could return the favor – God bless you!
